Skipping the Taxi line at Sea-Tac Airport

Friday, June 19th, 2009

In an earlier post, we mentioned to RideCharge Blackberry users about how to skip the line at Regan National Airport (DCA).

It turned out to be quite popular, and so we also sent out a note to RideCharge Blackberry users in Seattle  on how to skip the taxi line at Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA).

It’s essentially the same process– you can book an Orange  Cab from SEA using  your Blackberry, and not have to wait in the cab line!

Here’s how it works:

1. When you have your bags, go upstairs to the departures curb where there’s less hustle and bustle (i.e. not outside baggage claim downstairs)

2. Open the RideCharge application on your Blackberry and enter “SEA” as the pickup address (be sure to enter the current local time). Then, on the confirmation screen in the ‘Special Instructions’ section, just enter your airline name, e.g. “US Airways”

3. Your Orange Cab will meet you there– upstairs on the departures curb, near the sign for the airline you enter.  You’ll receive live updates on your Blackberry telling you when your car is on the way, and can pay for your taxi with RideCharge.

Alternatively, you can always book in advance to have Eastside for Hire pick you up at Sea-Tac Airport, using www.ridecharge.com.

If you haven’t downloaded RideCharge to your Blackberry, you can get it here.  Or, if you have an iPhone you can get Taxi Magic in iTunes.

Taxi Magic Conjures New York Car Service

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

It’s finally arrived– the ability for a New Yorker to tap a button on an iPhone or Blackberry and have a car appear, like magic.

New York City residents, and travelers to the city, can now use Taxi Magic on iPhone and Blackberry just like the thousands of passengers other major cities like San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Taxi Magic in NYC solves the biggest hassle in getting around New York: booking a car that will actually show up right where you want it, rain or shine.  It is the only mobile tool that can book New York Car Service for immediate pickup, anywhere in Manhattan, and have it arrive in 20 minutes or less– no more having to search for a cab on the street during rush hour!

The “magic” is the technology that connects passengers’ iPhone or Blackberry directly to black car computer dispatch systems, letting passengers summon a car with the tap of a button: instantly, for immediate pickup, on demand.  Taxi Magic also delivers instant confirmation and updates through the iPhone or Blackberry, including the car number and the driver’s estimated time of arrival.  It eliminates the uncertainty of whether you can find a cab, and when you’ll be picked up.

Taxi Magic directly connects passengers with leading Executive Transportation Group New York black car brands including BlueLine, Avalon, NY One, Love, Bell, and ETG Green–the popular eco-friendly hybrid service–totaling over 1,600 cars.

iPhone users can download the Taxi Magic application from iTunes

Blackberry users can download Taxi Magic from Blackberry App World, or by simply sending an email from their Blackberry to get(AT)ridecharge.com.

Skipping the Taxi Line at Reagan National Airport (DCA)

Friday, June 12th, 2009

We often get the question:  ’How can I use RideCharge to get a cab from the airport?’

Each airport is a bit diffferent, so we recently sent out a note to RideCharge Blackberry users about how to use RideCharge to skip the line at Reagan National Airport (DCA).

In short, you can book a Red Top Cab from DCA using  your Blackberry, and not have to wait in the cab line!

Here’s how it works:

1. When you have your bags and are heading outside, open the RideCharge application on your Blackberry and enter “DCA” as the pickup address.

2. Then, on the confirmation screen in the ‘Special Instructions’ section, just enter your airline name, e.g. “US Airways”

3. Your Red Top Cab will meet you at the outer curb across from the exit for the airline you entered.  You’ll receive live updates on your Blackberry telling you when your car is on the way, and you can pay for the taxi with RideCharge at the end of the ride.

It’s very slick and handy, especially when there is a long line at DCA  airport to get a cab in the morning / evening rush.

It also works with Taxi Magic on the iPhone.  When you’re at the airport, you just open Taxi Magic, select Red Top, enter “DCA” as your pickup address and use the Special Instructions section to enter your airline name.

If you haven’t downloaded RideCharge to your Blackberry, you can get it here.  Or, if you have an iPhone you can get Taxi Magic in iTunes.
